EMPD AND SAPS DISCOVER A DRUG LAB IN BENONI

EMPD and SAPS found a drug lab in Benoni on Monday, 18 August 2025.

Following up on information received about an illegal drug laboratory, the law enforcement units visited a house on Fourth Avenue in Benoni, where they found the owner of the premises and requested to search the property.

The owner agreed and was also asked to contact the tenant to come and open the outside room. The tenant refused, however, officers managed to access the outside room and discovered it is allegedly used as a lab to produce illicit substances. Officers found plastic bags of cat, rock (crack), crystal meth, mandrax, a weighing scale, paraphernalia pipes, cellphones, laptops, a money counting machine and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be gained from the sale of drugs.

Officers took the landlord’s statement and booked all items found on the scene. An inquiry docket was opened at Benoni police station.
