EMPD Training is in Session

Cadets at the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) training academy resumed training on 3 August.

The academy reopened its gates to 500 cadets who missed more than four months of training to be fully-fledged Metro Police Officers due to COVID-19 lockdown that came into effect in March this year.

According to EMPD acting chief Superintended Kobeli Mokheseng, to ensure that COVID-19 regulations are followed cadets are divided into two groups, one attending in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Screening, hand sanitising and wearing mask is order of the day.

Regarding the pass out of cadets who proved to be worthy to adorn the EMPD uniform will not take place this year.

“If we manage to completed our programme on time the pass out will take place either on July or August 2021,” says Mokheseng. He adds that pass out of deserving cadets chiefly depends of the availability of management and political leaders of the City of Ekurhuleni.
