FOREIGN NATIONAL BEHIND BARS FOR ALLEGEDLY SELLING OF FRAUDULENT CERTIFICATES AND ASYLUM PERMITS

The EMPD and Eden Park SAPS on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, arrested a 47-year-old Malawian man for fraud and being an illegal immigrant.

The arrest follows a tip-off about an individual producing and selling fraudulent documents at an internet café in Eden Park. On arrival, officers found the owner and searched the premises. They discovered boxes full of fake school reports, asylum permits, passports, a date stamp for certifying documents, and medical certificates, to mention a few.

The officers confiscated the equipment. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Eden Park Police Station and charged with fraud and for being in the country illegally. He is expected to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
