Former CoE Employee Faces Charges of Theft and Damage to Property

Former CoE Employee Faces Charges of Theft and Damage to Property 1On Thursday, 17 December, in Kempton Park the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Compliance-Loss Control and Investigation Unit members arrested a male suspect on charges of fuel theft and damage to property.

At 17h40 inside the civil engineering municipal premises, the EMPD crime fighting unit caught the 37-year-old red handed draining out diesel using a hose pipe from a parked branded City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Solid Waste Management Services Nissan Diesel truck. This was after being alerted by the private security personnel patrolling on site.

On closer inspection, officers picked up that the suspect had been dismissed by the City due to misconduct.  Four 25ℓ containers, one almost full of diesel, were confiscated as was the LDV used in the offence and impounded for safe keeping.

The detained suspect facing charges of fuel theft and damage to property (the truck’s fuel cap) is expected to appear in court soon.
