Four Nabbed For Speeding, One on Murder Charge

Saturday, 5 September, proved to be a busy day for the EMPD Speed Law Enforcement Unit and Katlehong North Precinct officers.

Between 06h00 and 11h00 in Boksburg on the N12 freeway near the Atlas off ramp three motorists were handcuffed for ignoring the stipulated 120km/h speed limit, and taken to Boksburg north police station for reckless and negligent driving.

The first driver to be pulled over, a 49-year old gun shop owner, clocked 182km/h and claimed he was rushing to his business because of a reported armed robbery. Officers checked out the story and found no sign of an armed robbery at the business. The other two drivers were arrested for driving between 169km/h and 170km/h.

Patrolling EMPD Officers from Katlehong North precinct stopped and frisked a suspicious looking 38-year old in Moleleki and seized a toy gun (replica of a 9mm parabellum). As the suspect was handed over to SAPS in Katlehong, one of the detectives recognised him from an identikit as a wanted suspect in a murder case, which occurred in Phooko last month.

All four will appear in court soon.
