Granny Plus Three Arrested for Possession of Narcotics

Three people were arrested on 9 May by EMPD, included a 71-year-old gogo, and narcotics valued at more than R15K confiscated in Eden Park.

Officers patrolling on Suzuki Road stopped and searched a suspicious looking 46-year-old man and a 71-year-old gogo, uncovering 19 Ziplock bags and a medium-sized plastic bag containing 53,3 grams of khat valued at R12 600.

EMPD Spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng says on their way to process the two suspects, the officers also noticed a nervous-looking 30-year-old man near the crime scene.

The suspect was approached, frisked and officers found five mandrax tablets, 12 Ziplock bags of khat, valued at R2 500, and R120 cash.

The trio facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substance were detained at the Eden Park police station. They will appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
