Over 27 People Arrested for Not Adhering to the Lockdown Regulations

Between 1 and 8 april, Law enforcement Operations during COVID-19 lockdown Has seen Over 27 people arrested For not adhering to the lockdown regulations.

Most arrests were for trading in prohibited items in the form of cigarettes and alcohol. Operations with the EMPD, in conjunction with the SAPS and defense force are continuously held across the City. Between 1 and 8 April, law enforcers arrested 27 people for selling cigarettes – the confiscated Cigarettes is valued at over R420 000.

Arrests were made in Benoni, Edenvale, Germiston, Boksburg, Primrose, Bracken downs and Kempton Park.

This amounted to over 617 cartons and 1 166 packs of cigarettes in different brands.
