PRIMROSE LIBRARY CLOSED AFTER FIRE INCIDENT
The Primrose Library has been temporarily closed due to a fire incident in the early hours of this morning.
The fire damaged among other things, computers, a monitor, books, and the air conditioning system.
Although the cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage, the city suspects attempted cable theft.
The city is currently investigating the extent of the damage. The results of the investigation will also assist in determining the period for repairs and the reopening date.
While the facility remains closed, the city encourages the Primrose library patrons to make use of neighbouring libraries such as Germiston, Bedfordview and Edenvale libraries in the meantime. Anyone with information that can assist in the investigation of the incident is encouraged to inform the local police station.
