Stolen Vehicle Recovered In Elsburg

A reported stolen motor vehicle was recovered in a yard in Elsburg and a house occupant arrested on 19 January by the EMPD.

According to EMPD Acting Spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng officers patrolling the area stopped briefly outside a house on Marx Road after spotting a neglected white Mazda 323 sedan parked inside the yard.

Mokheseng said officers requested permission to enter the premises and it was granted by a man standing by the gate. It was found that the Mazda had been reported as stolen in January 2016 in Deneysville in Free State province. A 49-year-old claiming to be the house owner was arrested and detained at Elsburg police station.

The recovered vehicle was impounded and the detained offender faces charges of possession of stolen motor vehicle.
