Stop and Search Leads to the Recovery of Possible Stolen Copper
Just after 09h00 this morning in Dawn Park, the EMPD SWAT and Specialised task team members uncovered suspicious looking cargo when they stopped a Light Delivery Vehicle. with two (2) male occupants and suspicious cargo, was confiscated.
The EMPD were in a convoy on their way to a meeting to discuss COVID-19 lockdown regulations, didn’t regret stopping and searching the white Nissan Hardbody double cab, and uncovered 600kg of prepared copper cable valued at R27 000. Two suspects, aged 40 and 44 years, preferred to remain mute concerning the origin and destination of their load, before they were escorted to Dawn Park police station.
Charges of possession of suspected stolen property and failing to adhere to the national lockdown were levelled against the duo. They will appear on court soon.
