Thief Caught with Transformer Control Panel in Springs

During a routine patrol at the energy planning storage facility a security officer heard a suspicious noise.

The guard looked through the palisade fence and saw an unknown man carrying something in his hand, later identified as a transformer control panel valued at R38 000.  

She quickly called for backup and the man was apprehended as he tried to jump over the palisade fence, carrying the transformer control panel.

City officials identified and confirmed the recovered item as CoE property and a case was opened with the SAPS.   The suspect, from Vergenoeg in KwaThema, has been charged and will appear in court soon.
