
Three Arrested for Stolen Railway Tracks and Hijacked Bakkie
Three male suspects were arrested for being in possession of stolen railway tracks worth over R100 000 and a hijacked Light Delivery Vehicle (LDV) in Tsakane on 10 February.
EMPD Spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said EMPD officers were stopped and approached by Afri Guard Security (private security company) requesting back-up at a local scrapyard. Officers responded and found suspects, aged 34 and 50, in possession of 18 rail tracks that had been stolen on 8 February in Heidelberg.
Charges of tampering with PRASA infrastructure and possession of stolen goods were levelled against the pair at Tsakane Police Station.
In a separate incident Mokheseng confirmed the arrest of a 44-year-old man in possession of a Toyota Hilux double cab reported hijacked by the owner on Tuesday, 9 February, in Douglasdale.
The suspect faces charges of possession of robbed/hijacked motor vehicle and was taken to Tsakane Police Station. T recovered vehicle was impounded for safekeeping.
The detained threesome are expected to appear in court soon.
