Three Arrested in Possession of Explosives
A patrol to enforce COVID-19 lockdown saw the Metro Police specialised task team and SAPS uncover house breaking implements and explosives in Villa Lisa, following a tip off.
The law enforcement team, expecting to find liquor and cigarettes being sold unlawfully during the lockdown, unexpectedly caught a 34- and the 37-year old couple in possession of 5 x explosives, 1 x 4 litres of an unknown liquid chemical, 2 x false number/registration plates, 4 x pairs of gloves, a hammer, makhamisa and hacksaw in the couple’s bedroom. Since there were blood spots on the bedroom walls, the SAPS detectives with the explosive unit were called on and thorough investigations were conducted.
The couple was charged with possession of explosives and house breaking implements and are set to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.
