Three Nabbed For Cable Theft
Anti-Cable Theft Units arrested three male suspects for cable theft while the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended a female for dealing in narcotics.
On 17 June at 07h30am, three male private security personnel contracted to the City between the ages of 41 and 53 were arrested just 30 minutes after they tried to hide their criminality by giving their control room operator false information.
The trio were deployed at the main Stores in Springs and alleged that unknown armed suspects pointed a firearm at them, while stealing a 9m copper cable valued at R3 000.
The EMPD team followed up by going through CCTV footage. A charge of perjury was registered against the trio at the Springs police station. The stolen cable was recovered in nearby veld.
During a crime prevention operation in Villa Lisa at 11h30 on 20 June, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members arrested a 40-year-old woman. She was found in possession of five ziplock bags of crystal myth, 14 half mandrax tablets, 19 ziplock bags of khat, 45 ziplock bags and one loose plastic bag containing dagga valued at R7 700 and R300 cash.
The suspect, who is facing charges of possession and dealing in illicit substance, was taken to Dawn Park police station.
