WOMEN EMPD OFFICERS PRAISED FOR HARD WORK
MMC for Community Safety Cllr Letlhogonolo Moseki has praised women law enforcement officers for their contribution in making Ekurhuleni a safer place. Moseki was speaking during the launch of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Women’s Month programme at a women-led roadblock on the N17 freeway on Thursday, 4 August.
The operation yielded R40 000 from motorists who had outstanding traffic fines that have escalated to warrants of arrest.
The roadblock comprised of more than 100 female officers from EMPD, the Gauteng Traffic Police and the South African Police Services. A total of 1 159 vehicles were stopped and 900 persons searched.
The women-led roadblocks are expected to continue throughout the month of August.
