City Officials Participate In Covid-19 and Other Ailment Screening In Etwatwa
About 7 294 people were screened for Covid-19 at Mandela Park in Etwatwa on Monday, 12 October 2020.
This was part of the ward-based intervention plan to flatten the spread of coronavirus in the City of Ekurhuleni. The team consisted of City officials, Gauteng Department of Cooperate Governance Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and Aurum Institute.
The day was started at Mshayazafe sport ground in the area and door-to-door interaction with the community on the Lockdown Level 1 regulations were rolled out, including promoting healthy life style.
At the end of the day, 35 people were swabbed for Covid-19 and around 70 people screened for HIV/Aids of which one was referred for further medical testing.
Ten were screened for tuberculosis (TB) while 48 were screened for blood pressure and blood glucose.
The team also distributed 1 300 health pamphlets.
