Do Not Forget – Every Day Is Immunisation Day In Ekurhuleni
Parents and guardians are reminded that every day is immunisation day in the City of Ekurhuleni.
Despite her fears, Mbali Radebe braved it all and visited the Germiston clinic to have her newborn baby vaccinated for the very first time.
“As a young mother to a six-week-old baby, I was very nervous to bring my baby to the clinic for her first immunisation, but was relieved to see that all COVID-19 protocols are observed by the clinic. This gave me peace of mind knowing that my baby and I are in safe hands,” Radebe said.
Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Health and Social Development Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi pleaded with parents and guardians to get their children immunised.
“Do not miss the immunisation date for your child just because we are living in the era of COVID19. As a City we pride ourselves that we are adhering to all COVID-19 protocols in our health centres to ensure that all visitors are safe and protected,” MMC Nkosi assured.
The City’s health practitioners reiterated the MMC’s call for parents to ensure that children be vaccinated according to their road to health card. Even if the card has been lost or misplaced, parents are still encouraged to take their children to the clinic.
Vaccines stimulate the body’s immune system that helps to prevent and protect children from serious illnesses, such as polio, hepatitis, measles, meningitis, diphtheria, pneumonia and other life-threatening illnesses that affect the growth of a child.
