Drive-Thru Vaccination Site Launched

Scores of Ekurhuleni residents have taken up the opportunity to get their vaccine inoculation at the new drive-through vaccination site launched on Monday, 24 May at the Christian Family Church.

Residents who have followed the registration process and selected the International Christian Family Church as their vaccination site will be inoculated in the comfort of their own vehicle without having to step out of their car to queue.

Johan Vander-Vyver, who is the first community member to get his COVID19 vaccine was delighted to have received the injection in the ease of his vehicle.

“This definitely a great initiative that is hassle free, I’m being observed in my own vehicle which also reduces the amount of contact and limiting my exposure. I strongly encourage other residents over 60 to consider a drive-through site,” said Vyver.

Patients who opt for the vaccine drive-through will go through the standard screening and verification process before receiving their inculcation.

This will be followed by the process of receiving the vaccine administered by a professional nurse. The patient will then drive to the observation station where the nurses will observe the patient for any adverse effects of the vaccine.

Once the patient has been observed and show no side effects, he or she will be allowed to drive out of the site with a vaccination card confirming that they have been vaccinated.
