Ekurhuleni Vaccine Sites Officially Opened
Following the success of the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme that ended last week, the City of Ekurhuleni officially opened its doors to the public for the rollout of the second phase as from 17 May 2021.
Leading from the front in the second phase of the inoculation programme was City Manager Dr Imogen Mashazi, who became the first recipient of the Pfizer jab at the Kobie Muller Hall at Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston.
“I am really excited to have received the vaccine today. I took the first step towards protecting myself and others. Finally, the long wait for the vaccine to get to the general public is over, and we are delighted,” Dr Mashazi said.
The city manager encouraged residents to continue taking precautions by adhering to the COVID-19 regulations, and to register to be vaccinated in the second phase of the vaccination programme.
The rollout of the second phase mainly targets those 60 years and older and health professionals who could not be accommodated during the first phase rollout.
Residents who have registered on the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS) will receive a confirmation message listing their vaccination site.
Healthcare workers and residents who are 60 years or older are encouraged to register for the vaccine using any of the methods listed below:
