GET VACCINATED FOR FLU THIS WINTER

Flu season started earlier than expected this year and now is the time to protect yourself and your loved ones by getting the flu vaccine.

The City started its flu vaccination drive on 1 April 2025 and encourages all community members to visit their nearest healthcare centre for the flu shot.

We vaccinate children with chronic conditions from the age of eight and above, pregnant women, people living with HIV, the elderly from the age of 65 and above, and children younger than two years old. These groups are advised to get the vaccination as soon as possible as well as seek medical help as soon as they experience flu symptoms.

The following are flu symptoms:

  • A high fever or feeling feverish
  • A cough and/or a sore throat
  • A runny or stuffy nose
  • Headaches and/or body aches
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (most common in children)
  • Chills.

To reduce the spread of flu in your community:

  • Wash your hands often
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell.

All health care facilities of the City  offer the flu vaccination.
