International Nurses Day Honours Those in The Frontline On Fighting COVID-19
Today is ‘World International Nurses Day’ and it is befitting for all to salute all nurses for being in the front line of our healthcare.
World International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on 12 May in honour of Florence Nightingale – a trail blazer in the nursing profession. This year’s theme coincides with the critical life saving role nurses play in the fight against the global coronavirus pandemic, or Covid -19.
The City honours the hundreds of nurses that continuously and selflessly serve the people of Ekurhuleni on daily bases.
It is day when we remember those nurses who have passed away, like Josephine Manini Peter, a nurse originally from Tsakane, who died of Covid-19 while on duty in the United Kingdom.
