Metro Promotes Healthier Living and Active Lifestyles

The rain and chilly wind did nothing to dampen the spirits of the dozens of community members who flocked to Germiston Lake for the Fit for Free aerobics session on Saturday.  Staying fit and healthy is high on many people’s list of priorities as they head into the new year, and with February being Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month, what better time for the community to focus on their health.

This month is dedicated to highlighting the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle by making small behavioural changes.  With this in mind, and to help the community of Ekurhuleni reach and maintain their fitness goals, the metro hosted the first Fit for Free aerobics session of the year, which saw residents being put through their paces in a series of high-energy workout routines.

The sweat-dripping three-hour workout marathon was led by a number of professional fitness instructors.  The metro will continue to hold similar aerobics sessions throughout the metro to promote healthier and more active lifestyles among communities.
