
MMC Mmoko Praises Healthcare Workers and Hand over PPE
Mayoral Committee Member for Community Safety Cllr Pheladi Mmoko payed tribute to healthcare workers for their continued contribution to the fight against COVID-19.
MMC Mmoko was speaking at the ceremony to hand over personal protective equipment (PPE) at Thembisa Health Care Centre on Friday, 12 February.
This was part of the City of Ekurhuleni’s programme led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr Mzwandile Masina, to hand over PPE comprising of medical grade masks, sanitisers and tongue depressors to the 77 clinics in the City.
“We are grateful for your dedicated efforts in saving lives, at the risk of your own lives and those of your families,” Mmoko said.
He lit a candle in remembrance of those who died from COVID-19. MMC Mmoko thanked the business community and donors for supporting the City in the fight against the pandemic.
Thembisa Health Care Centre acting facility manager Sister Fikile Phasha said the donation will not only help the healthcare workers, but will also help over 5 000 patients the Thembisa centre assists every month.
Nurses and staff reaffirmed the nurse’s pledge, promising to continue serving their patients with dedication and love.
