MMC Nkosi Cautions Residents to Heed the Level 1 Lockdown Regulations
As the country continues to see a decline in COVID-19 infections the MMC for Health and Social Services, Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi, cautions residents to heed the level 1 lockdown regulations.
“Despite the relaxed restrictions, there are some exclusions which residents are urged to adhere to, as these are efforts put in place to slow down the spread of COVID-19,” said the MMC.
She further states that most normal activities can resume, but precautions and health guidelines should be followed at all times.
The adjusted alert on level 1 are in place from 1 March 2021 and states that everyone is confined to their place of residence from 00h00 until 04h00 daily, unless a person is performing an essential service or has an emergency.
People travelling on late night flights have also been given exemption.
Licensed premises can now sell alcohol for on- and off-site consumption, subject to the curfew and existing liquor regulations.
However, the following remain prohibited in the country:
- Night vigils
- After-funeral gatherings including “after- tears”
- Night clubs
- Attendance of any sporting event by spectators
- Most of the country’s land borders remain closed, with some exceptions.
The MMC thanks Ekurhuleni residents for adhering to the measures in place and doing their part to stop the spread of the virus.
Residents are further encouraged to continue blowing the whistle on non-compliance. Below is the contact list where residents can report non-compliance:
