MMC Responds to DA Claims about Leondale Clinic

I am Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi, the Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Services in the City of Ekurhuleni.

As a city, we are appalled at the falsehoods that were shared by DA councillors about the state of the Leondale Clinic.

None of their claims are true. The clinic is fully capacitated with staff; it has sufficient medication; and medical waste is collected on schedule.

There is a tent that was donated to the City by the provincial government as part of the COVID-19 disaster management response, which has since unfortunately collapsed due to inclement weather – but the City is planning to reassemble it as soon as weather permits.

The City of Ekurhuleni is extremely disappointed that the DA would stoop so low to exaggerate the state of the clinic at a time when our people need health care services. However, we shall not be derailed nor distracted by such acts of cheap politicking from our agenda to provide quality health care services to our people.

As we continue in our quest to defeat COVID-19, let us remember to social distance, wear our mask properly to cover the nose and mouth, and let us sanitise or wash our hands with soap regularly.
