Nkosi Calls On Residents to Access Social Services
The MMC for Health and Social Services Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi calls on residents of the City to reach out and enquire about the social packages available to aid the vulnerable members of the Community.
It is a simple process, walk in at any social worker’s office at their customer care centre. After their interview with a professional social worker, they will be linked to the relevant packages based on their needs.
“Ekurhuleni residents should not suffer in silence, and then resorting to unlawful means to access basic services. The City has a fully functional social services package that includes a poverty alleviation and indigent programme.
“Our doors are open at every Customer Care Centre with a dedicated team of social workers and health professionals who are there to assist residents, said Nkosi.
Some of social services that are there to aid residents include:
- Referral of qualifying clients to the indigent management programme to access free electricity, water and municipal services for social relief.
- Food Security Programme through the Food Bank and Homestead Garden Project
- Facilitation of applications for Grant in Aid funding to uplift and develop co-operatives and not for profit organizations
