Ward Base War Room Strengthen Its Efforts
The MMC for Health and Social Services states that the health practitioners on the ground have observed a number of residents not wearing masks and observing health protocols when in public spaces.
“Reports received from the team members on the ground make it evident that there is indeed a need to continue strengthen the public education and awareness campaigns that are held in hotspot areas.
Residents need to be reminded that the pandemic is still with us and the only way to beat it is trough adherence,” stated the MMC.
Hotspot areas are identified based on noncompliance to health regulations and no wearing of masks in public.
The WBWR also involves identifying service delivery issues that are and escalating them to the relevant departments to attend to them.
Residents of the City are strongly encouraged to take up the opportunity and utilise the services offered by the teams that visit their areas.
Since the launch of the Ward-Based War Room (WBWR) last year, in June, to fight against coronavirus infections in the City, health practitioners still see the need to continue the fight in hotspot areas across the City.
The services rendered in the identified hotspot areas include, but not limited to:
- Door-to-door public awareness and education
- Health screening including COVID-19 testing
- Mobile clinic services
The WBWR team comprising of Environmental Health Practitioners, Health promoters and Professional Nurses will be visiting the following areas throughout the month of April:
