CITY RESETTLES FAMILIES LIVING UNDER ESKOM POWER PYLONS TO A SAFER SETTLEMENT
The City of Ekurhuleni has successfully relocated 139 families who lived under high voltage power pylons in Duduza informal settlement, Thembisa, on Tuesday,19 August 2025.
The families were resettled at a Chris Hani informal settlement next to Ivory Park.
The new settlement at Chris Hani informal settlement will be reblocked with basic services such as piped water, accessible streets and sanitation services.
The reblocked settlement is not permanent but transitional, allowing provision of basic services while the City plans for permanent housing units and serviced stands.
