CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL MANDELA DAY
It’s eleven years since the passing of the iconic Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and his legacy of spreading love, peace and ubuntu lives on stronger every year. The 18th of July is Madiba’s birthday and what better way to honour and celebrate him than to give of our time and assist those less fortunate, values which were very close to his heart.
This year’s theme for this very productive and charitable day is “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequality”. Tata was most famous for always promoting cohesion and a better life for all. His passing did not and must never mean the end of striving for such a society hence we all need to continue doing our bit. One person at a time is a step towards the eradication of socio-economic inequality. Let us sincerely dedicate that 67-minutes to a cause which will improve atleast one person’s life if not a whole charity organization. Those who liberated us had to take to the streets in protest to fight for our liberation, today we need to pull each other up out of poverty with one charitable act at a time.
May this Mandela spirit continue to live on through all of us in our daily actions.
Happy heavenly birthday Tata.
