CITY HANDS OVER REBUILT HOME TO HLOPHE FAMILY

Today, myself, along with the MMC for City Planning, Cllr Heather Hart, and Ward 48 Councillor Bafana Dube officially handed over the rebuilt home of Ms Nomqibelo Hlope at Erf 71 Moseleki East Section, Katlehong. In 2019 Ms Hlope’s home was badly damaged by a sinkhole that had formed in the area.

Upon inspection, it was determined that the extent of the damage to the house was of such a nature that it should be demolished and re-built. Unfortunately, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, work on the project ground to a halt in line with the regulations pertaining the to National State of Disaster.

The dolomitic profile of the ground on which the house was erected also required a scope change which added to the delay in rebuilding the house. However, today, this much overdue project was handed over the to the Hlope family. I would like to thank the family for their patience and understanding in the process of completing this project. Similarly, I would like to thank MMC Hart and the team from City Planning for a job well done. I would also like to thank Ward 48 Councillor, Bafana Dube, for assisting and taking the plight of residents to heart.
