EKURHULENI COUNCIL CONFERS ALDERMANSHIP TO FIVE COUNCILLORS

Today, during the last ordinary Council sitting for the year the Speaker of Council in the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr. Raymond Dhlamini, bestowed the title and status of Aldermanship upon five councillors.

This honourary title is bestowed upon councillors in line with the City’s Conferment of Civic Honours Policy to councillors who, amongst other criteria, have over the course of several years served on one or more local government bodies within the Republic of South Africa.

The honourary title is conferred once a year as and when councillors reach the required milestone. They retain the title even after they leave public office.

Aldermanship was conferred to:

  • Cllr. Tracey Lourenco
  • Cllr. Pieter Henning
  • Cllr. Jaco Terblanche
  • Cllr. Phillip Mabekenyane Thamahane
  • Cllr. Nomalanga Annah Mnguni

“I thank you for your service to the City and the residents of Ekurhuleni. It is through your tireless efforts and hard work that I am proud to bestow upon you all the title of Aldermanship,” said Speaker of Council Cllr. Raymond Dhlamini.
