EKURHULENI MAYOR OFFERS CONDOLENCES TO VICTIMS OF JOHANNESBURG FIRE

The unexpected loss of life is deeply saddening, especially under sudden and challenging circumstances like those in Johannesburg’s Marshalltown. The City of Ekurhuleni extends its heartfelt condolences and stands in unity with the City of Joburg during this trying time, mourning the tragic loss of over 74 individuals in yesterday’s devastating inner-city fire.

“It is heart-wrenching to think of the anguish experienced by the families of the deceased, as well as those who have been displaced from their homes due to the blaze,” remarked Executive Mayor Cllr Sivuyile Ngodwana.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected. May you find comfort, knowing that with each new dawn comes the promise of hope and resilience.” Mayor Ngodwana urges the community, “Let us come together and offer our collective support to those deeply impacted by this tragedy in Johannesburg. Many small acts of kindness can have a profound impact, often greater than a singular gesture.”

May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.
