EXECUTIVE MAYOR CALLS FOR PEACE AND CALM DURING PLANNED SHUTDOWN
The Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Alderman Tania Campbell, would like to assure residents of Ekurhuleni that a comprehensive range of safety and contingency measures are being implemented ahead of the “National Shutdown” planned for Monday, 20 March 2023.
The Executive Mayor urges all activists to protest peacefully and strongly warns that the City will not hesitate to act swiftly against anyone who causes violence or engages in intimidation of businesses, schools or residents.
The City of Ekurhuleni has activated a cross-departmental strategy to ensure that residents and businesses within the city as well as all property of the city is protected on 20 March 2023. Metro police, healthcare services and transport officials are working together to ensure that the day of protest occurs in a peaceful manner.
