EXECUTIVE MAYOR LAUNCHES ‘PEOPLE’S GOVERNMENT AT WORK – MASISEBENZENI’

Katlehong township was a hive of activities on Friday, 23 June 2023, as the Executive Mayor and Members of the Mayoral Council actively checked up on the delivery of services. These activities at various corners of the township were the foundation of officially launching the mayoral outreach program dubbed ‘People’s Government At Work – Masisebenzeni’.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr Sivuyile Ngodwana will be visiting a different community every second Friday accompanied by officials of departments which are most challenged in those societies. “We need to see for ourselves as the executive how our people are navigating daily lives. We seek to find solutions with urgency hence  bringing along head of departments to account on the spot”, explains Mayor Ngodwana.

The official launch of the mayoral outreach program in Katlehong included site visits to a water reservoir under construction set to be concluded in a year from now. Checking up on the treatment of dolomitic ground which took down five houses in Katlehong 1, this project is still in its infancy. Executive Mayor also sweated it out as he took part in the process of pothole closure along Nhlapho section.

As the youth month draws to an end the Ekurhuleni government handed over some title deeds to young people. They have been urged to treat their homes as their investment and were reminded that it is illegal to sell RDP house before eight years of getting it.

After lengthy engagements with community stakeholders regarding key challenges in Katlehong, the Mayor promised MMC deployed to the area will see to speedy resolutions. “Before the end of this year I will return to Katlehong to get reports on progress made and actions made towards commitments undertaken on this Friday”, Mayor Ngodwana assured residents.
