EXECUTIVE MAYOR PAINTS MACKENZIEVILLE IN GOODNESS FOR 67 MINUTES
Mandela Day 2023 was a hive of activities especially in Nigel where Executive Mayor and some of the MMC’s were spreading acts of goodwill.
The morning kicked off with an official program where Mayor, Cllr Sivuyile Ngodwana, appreciated the partnership the city has with AfriSam. Several houses in MacKenzieville in Nigel have been built by this construction company to be occupied by child headed families and people with disability.
The Executive Mayor called for more partnerships between the public and private sectors to achieve increased development for communities.
“As we mark Mandela month, we must remember that Madiba didn’t achieve the greatness he acquired all on his own. Our democracy was acquired through selfless acts by Mandela and many others. This history has taught us that we constantly need to work together to attain greatness as country,” emphasised Mayor Ngodwana when kicking off the 67 minutes campaign.
Executives from the City of Ekurhuleni rolled up their sleeves and painted houses newly built in MacKenzieville. They also planted trees in that new neighbourhood.
The residents were elated to be seeing their houses getting final touches courtesy of the Mayor and executive members of the City of Ekurhuleni.
Concluding activities of the day the Executive Mayor made a clarion call to the residents ’to extend charitable acts to be part of our daily lives and make it live beyond July 18’.
The political leadership was joined a team of professionals led by the City Manager Dr Imogen Mashazi and some of the city’s heads of departments.
