EXECUTIVE MAYOR XHAKAZA HITS THE GROUND RUNNING WITH IMMEDIATE ACTION AT THEMBISA IDP PUBLIC HEARING

Just hours after his inauguration, the newly elected Executive Mayor, Ald Nkosindiphile Xhakaza demonstrated his commitment to proactive governance by attending the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) public hearing in Thembisa. This session is part of a series of city-wide meetings aimed at gathering public input on the draft IDP for the 2024/25 fiscal year and the accompanying Multiyear Budget for 2024/25 through 2026/27.

During the meeting, Mayor Xhakaza engaged with Thembisa residents, listening attentively to their concerns regarding billing, infrastructure maintenance, and road improvements. His familiarity with the area, having grown up in Thembisa’s Lebeong Section and attended Inxiwemi Primary School, reinforced his dedication to addressing these issues.

“Thembisa holds a special place in my heart,” remarked Mayor Xhakaza. “I am encouraged by the robust participation today and the community’s eagerness to collaborate with us. Together, we are ushering in a new era of progress for Thembisa.”

In line with his commitment to ongoing community engagement, Mayor Xhakaza announced plans to return to Thembisa for an Imbizo public meeting, following the formation of his Mayoral Committee. This future session will focus on further addressing the community’s needs and developing actionable strategies for improvement. Izimbizos will be a cornerstone of the newly elected administration’s stakeholder engagement strategy, facilitating direct feedback from residents across all townships and suburbs in the City of Ekurhuleni. These sessions will be integral in ensuring community voices are heard and acted upon throughout our governance
