MMC SIBEKO ADDRESSES RESIDENTS OF KWA-THEMA OVER POWER OUTAGE
“I have visited residents of Kwa-Thema to address the large electrical area outage. I convened this public meeting to engage residents on their service delivery complaints and find meaningful, lasting solutions to their challenges,” says MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy Cllr Senzi Sibeko.
The energy department this morning installed a temporary cable that will link two substations to run a parallel supply to affected areas in KwaThema. This solution will be implemented while transformer repairs and tests continue as planned.
This process has been delayed due to high levels of ambient moisture caused by the rainy weather, indicated by the MMC.
“I have implored residents to refrain from damaging municipal infrastructure and to protest within the ambit of the law. The multi-party coalition in the City of Ekurhuleni strives to ensure that the voices of communities are heard, and their requests are responded to timeously.”
