EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT OFFICIALLY MIGRATES TO BASIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Early Childhood Development has officially migrated from the Department of Social Development to the Department of Basic Education.  On Thursday, 26 May, Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi officially launched the migration at David Bopape ECD Prototype in Tsakane.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the MEC stated that the shift reinforces how serious government takes early childhood development.

The MEC further stated the training and education of ECD practitioners is a priority to ensure the country’s future leaders are taught by qualified persons.

The shift was effected from 1 April 2022.
