EKURHULENI’S BUDGET AND IDP MEETINGS GET OFF TO A FLYING START

GERMISTON – The Integrated Development and Plan (IDP) and Budget consultative meetings got off to a flying start when scores of people filled Monty Motloung Community Hall in Duduza and Germiston City Hall in Germiston last week.

Ekurhuleni residents like Juanita Horn who is a chairperson of the Germiston Business Forum took the opportunity to give feedback on the (IDP) budget for the period 2023/24 and the draft Multiyear Budget 2023/24- 2024/25 and 2025/26 that was presented.

“I am pleased with the city’s plan to enhance its electricity infrastructure but request that the draft budget should include funds to install early warning devices to help curb cable theft which is one of the major problems affecting the Germiston area,” said Horn.

The public participation meetings will be held until 24 April.

Ekurhuleni residents are encouraged to actively participate in the process, either by physically attending the meetings or depositing their inputs and views through the various available avenues and resources provided by the city for this purpose.

The closing date for comments is Wednesday, 26 April 2023.

The draft IDP and budget documents are available for viewing on the City of Ekurhuleni’s website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.  Comments and suggestions on the budget and IDP can also be made through the website.
