#MandelaDay2020
Executive Mayor Mzwandile, members of his mayoral committee, councillors and partners took this year’s theme – Action Against Poverty – seriously.
This year, more than ever, the heart of Mandela Day – Take Action, Inspire Change – Make Every Day a Mandela Day – has never been more true.
Covid-19 has impacted on the lives of people across the globe and the economy hard hit resulting in new social and economic challenges. In taking action this year, Executive Mayor Mzwandile Masina and his team interacted with residents, handed out food parcels, face masks and sanitary towels.
Partnering with the City, TV and radio personality, as well as business woman, Lerato Kganyago visited Daveyton with Mayor Masina. She donated pads, manufactured by her company – Flutter by LKG – in a drive to give back to the community. Something she has done since starting the company. The media personality also shared that she has spent most of her teens living in Ekurhuleni in Dawn Park.
While Mayor Masina visited Daveyton, MMC Nomadlozi Nkosi was in Thembisa, and MMC Khosi Mabaso in Katlehong.
The City’s focus this year was interacting with communities on the importance of adhering to Covid-19 regulations and handing out food parcels, face masks and sanitary towels. #MakeEveryDayAMandelaDay
