School Uniforms for Tembisa Learners
Learners at OR Tambo Primary School in Phomolong, Tembisa, received hampers made up of school uniforms on 5 February from MMC for Environment and Waste Management Services Cllr Ndosi Shongwe, in partnership with the City’s service providers for waste collection in the area.
The tunic, jersey, trousers, shirts and school shoes were given to grades 1 – 3 learners, as part of the City’s campaign to assist learners to commence with the school programme without worrying about such basic necessities.
Addressing the learners, MMC Ndosi said, “This campaign is very close to my heart due to the genuine difference it makes in the life of every benefiting child. Most of the children in this school live in child-headed homes and the luxury of owning a new set of school shoes is a distant memory for them. Therefore, we are here to close the gap, working with our service providers.”
