Parks Now Open to Public

The City’s controlled access community parks are now open, and ready to welcome members of the public.

Following the President’s announcement of the country’s move to COVID-19 lockdown level 2, effective from Tuesday, 18 August, people can now enjoy the use of the City’s parks.

However, residents are urged to follow the strict COVID-19 rules of always maintaining a social distance of 1.5m, wearing of cloth facemasks and regularly sanitising or washing hands.

The access-controlled parks operate from 06h00 to 18h00 daily. Security guards at the gate will monitor and manage the number of people entering to avoid overcrowding.

  • Gilloolys Farm
  • Dries Niemandt Park
  • Bulithando Multi-purpose Park
  • Nomathamsanqa Multi-purpose Park
  • Barcelona Regional Park
  • Germiston Lake
  • Alberton Dam
