Reminder to Submit Comments On Proposed Wards Towards The 2021 Local Government Elections

The Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) has published the revised programme following the declaration of state of disaster and lockdown to prevent the spread of corona virus (COVID-19) for the provision of comments and inputs on the draft ward maps (Set 1). In terms of the revised programme, all municipalities that were consulted prior to the declaration of state of disaster and lockdown have to submit their written submissions by no later than 31 May 2020.

The City of Ekurhuleni was consulted on the 12 March by the MDB, after 3 stakeholder engagements by the City on proposed ward demarcations. 

The City held public consultation meetings as per the programme below in preparation of the MDB session with the City on the 12 March 2020.

26 February 2020          East     Tsakane Community Hall

26 February 2020          South   Palm Ridge Community Hall

02 March 2020              North    Rabasotho Community Hall, Tembisa

The due date for submitting written comments and inputs to the MDB was the 30 April 2020, and was extended to the 31 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown. If you did not submit comments already, you can still make your submission on the MBD form and ensure that it reaches the Office of the Speaker of Council by no later than 28 May 2020 or is emailed directly to the MDB (registry@demarcation.org.za) by the 31st May 2020.
