SPEAKER, CLLR RAYMOND DHLAMINI, OFFICIATES SWEARING IN OF NEW PATRIOTIC ALLIANCE COUNCILLOR

On Thursday, 20 October 2022, the Speaker of Council in the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Raymond Dhlamini, officiated the swearing-in of a Patriotic Alliance councilor Cllr Churchill Chair, who took his oath of office before a magistrate in the Speaker’s Office in accordance with Rule 11 (1) and (2) of the City of Ekurhuleni Standing Orders By-Law.

These rules make provision for councillors to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the Republic, the Constitution and Council before the magistrate in a Council meeting; or at any time by arrangement before the Speaker and the Magistrate in the Speaker’s Office. Cllr Dhlamini welcomed the councillor, who can now participate in the official business of Council and wished him well in serving the people of Ekurhuleni with integrity and upholding his sworn oath.
