THE MULTI-PARTY COALITION GOVERNMENT CONDEMNS THE ACTS OF VANDALISM TO COUNCIL PROPERTY BY THE ANC IN EKURHULENI

The Multi-Party Coalition Government condemns the acts of violence and vandalism committed by members of the African National Congress (ANC) at the Boksburg Civic Centre on 27 May 2022. These acts of criminality took place during the registration process of the ANC Ekurhuleni Elective Conference.

These acts of vandalism to Council Property are an attack on the residents of Ekurhuleni and their democratic right to gather. The Multi-Party Coalition Government appeals to law enforcement agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the damage caused to the facility are brought to book and face the full might of the law.

The Multi-Party Coalition will direct the city’s Department of Real Estate to quantify the value of the damage caused by the members of the ANC, and we will proceed to invoice the party for repair costs. The Multi-Party Coalition respects and celebrates the right to freedom of association as enshrined in our constitution. However, equally members of political formations are responsible for upholding the rule of law and not committing crimes of malicious injury to property.
