ELECTRICAL FAULT AT RAND WATER’S MAPLETON SYSTEM AFFECTS WATER SUPPLY

The water supply interruption affecting residents in Vosloorus is due to a fault at Rand Water’s (RW) Mapleton system which occurred last night, 25 September.

At the same time, technicians are closely monitoring RW’s Palmiet system which was damaged last week by a severe thunderstorm and later experienced an internal electrical fault.

While water supply has been reinstated to most parts of the City, the water network is slowly recovering to customers in high lying areas.

This is affecting water supply to the following areas:

  • Bedfordview;
  • Essexwold;
  • Homestead;
  • Marlands;
  • Primrose;
  • Solheim;
  • Sunnyridge and
  • Vosloorus.

The City has provided roving water tankers to the affected areas until there is sufficient supply from the bulk supply.
