LOADSHEDDING CAUSES WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS
Customers are notified of water supply interruptions caused by the ongoing loadshedding.
The current situation has resulted in intermittent operation of water pump stations causing reduced, and in some cases depleted, water levels.
Residents in high lying areas are mostly affected as their water pressure is reliant on water towers that are filled through pumping from reservoirs using electricity.
Water pump stations are equipped with emergency power generators that cease to operate in case of a prolonged outage. Water towers that have pump stations without emergency generators experience quicker depletion of water, resulting in dropped pressure and ultimately no water.
Below is a list of the areas that are experiencing low water pressure to no water due to prolonged power supply interruption:
Customer care area | Affected areas |
Benoni, Daveyton and Etwatwa | Northmead, Farrarmere, Brentwood Park, Norton’s Home Estate, Goedeburg, Rynfield, Morehill, Crystal Park, Hillcrest, Benoni AH, Cloverdene, Chief Albert Luthuli, Daveyton, Mayfield and Etwatwa |
