PALM RIDGE SUBSTATION UPDATE

Substantial progress has been made to restore power to Palm Ridge and surrounding areas, following the fire that damaged the power supply facility on Thursday, 03 July 2025.

The two (2) transformers that were not damaged during the fire, have now been energised, and restoration will commence this afternoon. The restoration will be done gradually over two days, to allow technicians to monitor any abnormalities on the grid.

Gradual restoration of power supply in areas such as Palm Ridge Proper and the Palm Ridge high court is expected to be today, 14 July 2025 at 15h00. Sky City is expected to be restored later in the afternoon at around 18h00.

For Namhlanje switching station, supplying half of the Palm Ridge extensions, estimated restoration time remains Tuesday, 15 July 2025 at 13h00.

Escalator switching station supplying the rest of the Palm Ridge extensions is also set for Tuesday, 15 July 2025 at 16h00.

Furthermore, customers who may still experience power supply interruptions due to technical faults or third-party interference, will be attended to after full restorations of power supply in all areas has been stabilized.

Customers are advised to treat electrical networks as live while work is ongoing.
