UPDATE ON BOKSBURG POWER OUTAGE
Power has been restored to most of the areas that were left without power last week following a fire at the Witkoppie Substation last week Tuesday (19 September).
Since Tuesday, technicians have been hard at work trying to restore power supply to the affected areas. Power was restored to Witfield, Anderbolt, and Yaldwyn substations later on the same day, and ever since work has continued in earnest to restore electricity to the other areas, such as Impala Park, Witkoppie Ridge and some parts and Bardene and Beyers Park. The initial deadline for the restoration of power in all the affected areas was yesterday (Monday, 25 September), however, by last night technicians could only manage to reconnect Atlasville.
“Unfortunately, the rest of the areas could not be reconnected after the team discovered multiple cable faults on the network. The faults are being attended to and the estimated restoration time is this evening,” says metro spokesman Zweli Dlamini.
The exact restoration time will be communicated once all work has been completed.
Residents are advised to treat electrical networks as live at all times.
The City apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused.
