WATER SUPPLY UPDATE FOR GERMISTON, BEDFORDVIEW, SPRINGS AND KWATHEMA

Some areas in the City of Ekurhuleni are experiencing water supply interruptions due to high water demand and low reservoir levels. Key locations affected include Germiston, Bedfordview, Springs and KwaThema.

Below is the current water supply update per area:

Bedfordview: The area is receiving water through a bypass pipe. High-lying areas are still without water, but tankers are stationed at Virgin Active in Van Burren Road.

Germiston: The Dawn View area is experiencing low incoming flow, and high-lying areas such as Albermarle, Dinwiddie and Castleview are experiencing water supply interruptions due to low storage levels at Russell Road reservoir.

KwaThema: The situation has improved as the reservoirs have recovered from yesterday’s low levels, resulting in a stable water supply in the area.

Springs: Persida reservoir has not yet recovered, the water level at the reservoir remains low as its elevation typically results in a longer recovery time compared to other reservoirs.

The City of Ekurhuleni has deployed water tankers across various affected areas to ensure residents have access to water supply.
